Why Data Cloud Readiness Can’t Be an Afterthought

The quality of your data determines the quality of every segment and journey. There’s no correction layer built into the platform.

Garbage in, garbage out.

Unresolved identities, bad field mappings, and missing records don’t get cleaned on import; they get activated.

No Data Cloud, no MCN.

If you’re moving to Marketing Cloud Next, Data Cloud readiness isn’t a parallel workstream; it’s the prerequisite.

Compliance risk scales with volume.

Unvalidated consent data creates regulatory exposure that grows with every send.

The Five Readiness Gates Every Data Cloud Project Hits

Every failed Data Cloud rollout traces back to one of these five areas. We audit all of them before implementation begins.

Identity
Resolution

One identifier across all systems. Fragmented identity produces fragmented Unified Individuals.

Field
Definitions

Fields typed, labeled, and consistent. Mismatched types break ingestion before a segment runs.

Source
Hygiene

Clean, deduplicated records from every source. No segment rule fixes an upstream data problem.

Consent
State

Consent mapped to a single identifier. Unresolved records create compliance exposure from day one.

Volume and
Velocity

Volume validated against your licensing tier. Underestimating it is the most common cause of first-billing overrun.

Quick Self-Assessment: How Ready Is Your Data?

Three or more “no” answers means you need a readiness assessment before implementation begins.

Checklist:

What We Find in Almost Every Data Cloud Engagement

Four gaps. Almost every org. All fixable before go-live.

Subscriber Key, Contact ID and email hash failing to resolve to one Unified Individual — mapping incomplete

Scope your readiness before you scope your implementation.

Why Orgs Choose 360 Degree Cloud for Data Cloud Readiness

We’ve seen what breaks. We scope it before it does.

  • Salesforce Summit Partner - fewer than 1% of partners globally hold this tier.
  • We audit before we implement. No roadmap built on assumptions.
  • We tell you when you’re not ready. Most partners don’t.
  • One consultant from kickoff to delivery. No handoffs.

What the Fixed-Price Data Cloud Readiness Assessment Covers

Fixed scope. Fixed price. You leave with a complete picture of where your data stands, not a proposal for more work.

Data Audit

Field naming, Data Extension structure, object ownership, ingestion sources, and data freshness.

Identity Review

Current contact identifier model and the path to Unified Individual in Data Cloud.

Consent Mapping

Where opt-out and suppression data lives and whether it resolves to a single identifier before activation.

Volume and Licensing Scope

Record volume and activation frequency validated against your current Data Cloud licensing tier.

Integration Assessment

Review of third-party connectors and API dependencies - what breaks, what needs rework.

Gap Register

Every data and governance gap, prioritized by remediation effort and sequenced by impact.

Readiness Score

An honest rating across identity, consent, source hygiene, and governance.

Written Report

A stakeholder-ready findings document structured for internal review and sign-off.

Your Implementation Is Only as Strong as Your Data.

A fixed-price assessment that tells you exactly what’s ready and what isn’t.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Data Cloud is Salesforce’s real-time data unification platform. It ingests contact data from every connected source and resolves it into a single Unified Individual profile. Every segment you build, every journey you activate, and every send you execute in Data Cloud draws from that unified profile. If the data feeding it is inconsistent, incomplete, or improperly mapped, your outputs reflect that directly, there is no correction layer built into the platform.
  • Data Cloud uses a consumption-based credit model, not a flat per-seat fee. Credits are consumed by data ingestion, identity resolution runs, and segment activation. The amount you consume depends on your record volume and activation frequency. Orgs that don’t audit their volume before licensing frequently find their credit consumption exceeds their purchased tier in the first billing cycle. Our assessment includes a volume review specifically to prevent this.
  • Not automatically; if you’re staying on classic Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud remains optional. However, if your org is moving to Marketing Cloud Next, Data Cloud is not optional: MCN is built natively on Data Cloud and cannot operate without it. Our assessment confirms which scenario applies to your current licensing and what you already have access to before any implementation begins.
  • Data Cloud readiness addresses the data layer: identity, consent, field definitions, source hygiene, and volume. MCN migration assessment addresses the platform and architecture layer: journeys, AMPscript, Automation Studio logic, API integrations, and phasing. Data Cloud readiness is a prerequisite for MCN migration, you need clean data before you rebuild the platform on top of it. We typically recommend running both assessments together for orgs planning an MCN move.
  • A few weeks from kickoff to final report for most orgs. Orgs with unusually complex data models or large Data Extension libraries may require one additional week for the gap register. Timeline is confirmed at kickoff based on environment complexity.
  • Yes. We regularly engage orgs that have begun internal discovery or partial scoping. Our assessment identifies gaps in existing analysis and builds on work your team has already done. If you have documentation from a prior evaluation, share it at kickoff and we incorporate it into the gap register rather than duplicating effort.
